Long Distance Training

With the high school cross country season right around the corner most kids are pounding out mile after mile to prepare for the fall season.  Is that all it takes to make a long distance runner faster?  Many coaches at that level miss the importance of lifting heavy weights and training for power.  Check out Coach Vern Gambetta's article and you might find out there is a lot more to training long distance runners than you think.
